Artwork Submission

To ensure the best possible results for large format printing, your artwork needs to be prepared with specific technical standards in mind. Large scale graphics are viewed differently than handheld prints, and the file setup reflects that.

1. Resolution and PPI (DPI)

While standard desktop printing requires 300 DPI, large format printing operates on a “viewing distance” logic.

  • Standard Resolution: Aim for 150–300 DPI at the final physical size.
  • Close-up Graphics: If the print will be viewed from 3 feet or less, stick to 300 DPI.
  • Commercial Graphics: For Vehicle Wraps viewed from 10+ feet away, 200 DPI is often sufficient.
  • Banner Graphics: For Banners, Billboards or Building Signs viewed from 10+ feet away, 150 DPI is often sufficient.

Note: Increasing the DPI of a low-resolution image (upsampling) will not improve quality; it will only result in a blurry or pixelated print. Always start with high-resolution assets. We flag all artwork issues be see before printing. We do not print anything that is considered substandard quality.

2. Vector vs. Raster Artwork

  • Vector (Preferred): Created in programs like Adobe Illustrator. These can be scaled to any size (from a business card to a stadium wrap) without losing any detail. Always use vector for logos, text, and icons if possible.
  • Raster (High-Resolution): Photos or complex textures. These are made of pixels and will lose quality if stretched. Ensure these meet the DPI requirements mentioned above.

Note: Please be sure to include any linked assets or fonts with you vector artwork if not embedded.

3. Scale and Bleed

Large format files can become massive and difficult to transfer. Using a scale is a common industry practice:

  • 1:10 Scale: Create your document at 10% of the actual size, but increase your resolution to 720 DPI. When we blow it up 1000%, it lands perfectly at 150–200 DPI.
  • Bleed: If you are unfamiliar with the required bleed for your project we recommend you reach out to us for assistance. Bleed requirements are different for each project, you can reach us at 479-388-0988.

4. File Formats

To maintain the integrity of your design, please save files in the following formats:

  • PDF: High-quality print or Press Quality (ensure fonts are outlined).
  • TIFF: Flattened, with LZW compression to keep file sizes manageable.
  • EPS/AI: Ideal for pure vector graphics.

5. Submission Guidelines

To keep the production process moving quickly, please use the following methods:

Via Email

  • Best for files under 20MB.
  • Please include your Project Name and Company Name in the subject line.

Via Cloud Drive (Large Files)

  • For files over 20MB, use services like Google Drive, OneDrive or Dropbox.
  • Permissions: Ensure the link is set to “Anyone with the link can view/download” to avoid access delays.
  • Naming Convention: Name your file clearly: Company_Project_FileName_Dimensions.pdf (e.g., RidgeWraps_DriverSide.pdf).

Quick Checklist Before Sending:
